Note: Although many enthusiasts prefer the “antiqued” insignia, originals look more like these- they were colored either by silver plating or a silver wash (paint).
These have two pins on the back- to install, first poke two holes in the cap with an awl or similar tool, slide the pins through and then bend them over to secure the eagle.
Do NOT attempt to push the pins through the cap fabric! They are not sturdy enough and will break.
