Restored barrel carriers for the MG42. These are postwar production Yugoslavian Army carriers, that are 99% identical to the WWII German Laufschützer 42. The only notable difference is the lack of markings (see comparison photos).
We select the best condition carriers, clean off the cosmoline and dirt, finish them in red -brown primer, paint them in the correct Dunkelgelb tan, harden the finish in our paint oven and fit new reproduction straps.
Condition: These are 60-70 years old and used. We are pretty picky about which ones we redo, but dings or small dents are likely.
Note! These will only fit MG42 barrels. Those for MG34’s are too long and only fit the wartime Laufschützer 34 or 43.
Color: Yes, some originals were painted dark gray. Depending on demand we may paint a few Dunkelgrau at some point.
Camo? Yes, troops occasionally painted these camouflage, although it appears to have been fairly rare.
DIY: Sure. Go for it. The biggest hassle is removing the thick “putty paint” which take 30+ minutes in a blast cabinet. Next, getting all of the grease out of the nooks & crannies can be infuriating. The best way is to heat them in an oven for 30 minutes or more- that will help melt the goo and it’ll leach out of the hinge and from behind the welds.
