In 1942, the Germans simplified their steel helmet by eliminating the rolled edge. This model was worn alongside the earlier M35 and M40’s until the end of WWII. They were worn by all services.
The reproduction M42’s are very good quality and compare well to the originals- especially for the price. The weight and thickness of the shell is similar to originals, the leather appears to be calfskin, and the chinstraps a nice.
All shells are marked ET 66 and have a 59cm liner. No other sizes.
Notes:
1. Color: Fieldgray.
2. Size: The liners are all 59cm. There is no way to adjust them.
3. The shell actually measures 65cm inside- if you want to put European made (or original) liners in them, it’ll be a bear.
4. WS Helmet Covers: Our size 2 fits.
5. Perfection: Most of these have a small chip or two in the paint. This does not constitute a defect.
