Our shovels come with a black oxide finish (aka “blued”) which seems to be the more common type found on wartime shovels. Some originals were painted, others had black oxide- and a few were even made with both (paint over the bluing).
These are the most typical of the WWII German manufactured type, with welded construction. They were standard issue for all troops in the German Armed Forces- Heer, Luftwaffe, WSS, and Kriegsmarine. Exclusively from ATF.
